28 June 2022: Chinese Jinling shipyard (Nanjing) delivered the ECO MEDITERRANEA, the tenth of 12 vessels ordered belonging to the Grimaldi Green 5th Generation (GG5G).
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is responsible for 16 connections. From 1 July, the two sections will be free. (in Norwegian)
Route: Bodø – Værøy – Røst – Moskenes
On the ferry between Bodø and Lofoten, it will be free to travel to and from Værøy and Røst. Travelers will be registered in the usual way, but will not be charged for the trip.
It will not be free to travel for free on the full stretch Bodø-Værøy-Røst -Moskenes.
On the connection Hjelmeland – Nesvik – Skipavik on national road 13 in Rogaland, travel to and from Skipavik will be free.
Rederi AB Gotland has entered into an agreement on the sale of the shares in Stockholm’s Reparationsvarv.
Since 2013, Rederi AB Gotland has been a partner in Stockholm’s repair yard, and a majority owner since 2014. In recent years, the company has had a positive development, but with changes in Rederi AB Gotland’s fleet, the number of docks of its own vessels in Gotland traffic and product tank has decreased. Against this background, the shares in Stockholm’s Reparationsvarv are sold to Lazarus, an investment company in industrial management and development. At the same time, Rederi AB Gotland continues the development of its own fleet with new and existing vessels.
Tallink Grupp’s SAILOR has arrived in the BLRT Turku Repair Yard in Naantali, Finland, for its regular dry-docking, scheduled from 30 June until 11 July 2022.
During Sailor’s planned technical maintenance, company’s other ropax REGAL STAR will be temporarily re-routed to operate on the company’s Paldiski – Kapellskär route from 2 July until 12 July.
On 22 June the European Parliament adopted its position on the EU Emission Trading System (EU ETS), which includes an expansion of the ETS to include shipping emissions. ESPO welcomes the EP position that outlines an ambitious and robust ETS that includes measures to address, and if possible, avoid carbon and business leakage. ESPO also welcomes that the EP position includes earmarking of revenues for investments in ports and maritime.
In order for a regional ETS in the EU to be effective and aligned with the polluter pays principle, carbon leakage through rerouting of ships outside of the ETS scope must be avoided at all costs. If this is not addressed in the final legislation, the ETS would fail to effectively reduce emissions from ships whilst also producing a negative impact on the European port business.
European ports therefore strongly support the measures adopted by European Parliament making it less attractive for ships to change their routes, divert calls, or engage in other evasive behaviours in order to avoid paying into the EU ETS.
ESPO believes that the EP position provides a good basis to address carbon and business leakage in the ETS. The preventative measures included in the EP position should be included in the final ETS to be agreed between European Parliament and EU Member States.
Fred. Olsen’s newly acquired BUGANVILLA EXPRESS is now running between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
She was built in 2004 and ran on the Costa Brava as the DOFI JET CUATRE.
On June 22 and after 4,5 years lay-up at Neos Molos Drapetsonas, the accommodation ship AQUA SOLUTION of Seajets left Greece. The ship was purchased in January 2018 by the Dutch C-bed BV but remained inactive. At the beginning of June, she flew the flag of Comoros and renamed SOLUTION. She is most likely sail to Alang (India) via the Suez Canal.

On June 27, 2022 the Hellenic Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy decided that Leve Ferries’ NISSOS AIGINA (former MIDSLAND) will eventually serve the Igoumenitsa – Paxoi line.
The ship was initially purchased for the Piraeus-Aigina line and extensively rebuild at Perama into a passenger car ferry. However, plans changed, and her operator decided to charter her to Joy Ferries for 5 years with an purchase option.
The ship will sail to Igoumenitsa on June 30, 2022.
