PPA’s investment activity continues based on its business plan and within the third quarter of 2020 investments that were made amounted to 4.1 million euros

PPA’s overall traffic figures in 2020 (5,436,797 TEU), despite the pandemic, presented a reduction of 3.7% compared to 2019 (5,648,054 TEU), which is an excellent performance compared to other European ports with higher losses.

Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) S.A. officially announced that on November 18th, 2019 it handled the container with number CSUN7025891. It was unloaded from the COSCO Shipping vessel CAPRICORN, reaching the total throughput in the port of Piraeus at 5,000,000 TEU for this year. The fact that the five million limit is already broken in November, brings the Port of Piraeus closer to the first position in the Mediterranean and possibly among the top four ports in Europe.

Piraeus Port Gets ‘Best Cruise Port In Mediterranean’ Award

Piraeus port was awarded as the best cruise port in the eastern Mediterranean region -from MedCruise- at an event held in Genoa within the Mare Nostrum Awards.

The prize was received by the Strategic Planning & Marketing Manager of the Port Authority of Piraeus, Mrs Theodora Riga. According to statistics, for the first five months of 2019, the cruise sector for the port of Piraeus increased by about 14% compared to 2018, while homeporting (arrivals and departures from the port of Piraeus), increased by 24%.
