ANDROS QUEEN left Japan for Greece

On March 15, 2022 ,Golden Star Ferries’ ANDROS QUEEN (former SILVER QUEEN) left the port of Muroran for Greece. She was purchased from Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen (Silver Ferry) on February 9, 2022 for EUR 7.354 million and delivered to a Greek crew on March 9, 2022.

The ship is currently sailing for the port of Busan and expected to arrive in Greece in early April

Golden Star Ferries’ HSC SUPER EXPRESS Enters Service on June 18

HSC SUPEREXPRESS of Golden Star Ferries will be introduced on the new Rafina-Tinos-Mykonos-Naxos-Paros-Ios-Santorini line on June 18, 2021.

After the sale of 3 of its high-speed vessels to Seajets, Golden Star Ferries makes a fleet reshuffling and launches its luxurious High-Speed Craft from Rafina to Cyclades for the first time. Her presence in the port of Rafina seems to affect Seajets as well, which has no presence for the summer season 2021.

Seajets Purchase 4 Vessels From Golden Star Ferries

On April 29, 2021, it was confirmed that Seajets agreed to purchase 4 vessels from Golden Star Ferries:

  • 3 high-speed crafts (SUPERRUNNER, SUPERCAT, SUPERSPEED)
  • 1 conventional ferry SUPERFERRY II (photo)
  • The highspeed crafts will be delivered directly, while SUPERFERRY II will be delivered in October after the end of the summer season.
  • When the deal is completed, Seajets will own 22 vessels (18 high-speed crafts, 4 conventional ferries).

Golden Star Ferries HSC SUPER EXPRESS Begins Her Service from Rafina

On June 14, 2019 – and after many adventures – the latest acquisition of Golden Star Ferries, HSC SUPER EXPRESS (5.903gt/1998), will be introduced on the Rafina-Syros-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos-Koufonissi-Katapola (Amorgos) run. The ship’s schedule has already been posted on the company’s official site. She will depart daily from Rafina port at 16.30, while her return from Amorgos will be at 07.15. The ship flies the Cypriot flag.

HSC GOLDEN EXPRESS Goes to Golden Star Ferries

Finally, Golden Star Ferries took over the HSC GOLDEN EXPRESS (5.903gt/1998) after the collapse of the agreement reached -in October 2018- with the rival Fast Ferries. The ship has already been painted in the colours of Golden Star Ferries and has already been dry docked at Spanopoulos Group’s new Greek shipyards in Ambelakia, Salamis. Also, her new stern ramps have already been placed since 3 May.
The ship is expected to be introduced on the Rafina – Syros-Tinos-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos-Koufonissi-Amorgos run on 10 June.

Busy Schedule for HSC SUPER SPEED

On 10 May the Golden Star Ferries’ trimaran, SUPER SPEED was introduced on the Piraeus -Paros – Naxos – Mykonos – Tinos – Rafina – Andros – Tinos – Mykonos – Naxos – Paros – Piraeus run.
She was purchased from the Croatian Krilo Ferry in October 2017, while during the summer season of 2018 she served the Volos-Sporades-Thessaloniki run. This year she is making a fresh start, performing a peculiar and clever run to the Cyclades.
SUPER SPEED was built in Australia (2002). She is 853gt (269 dwt), 54.5m long, 15.08m wide and 2m draught. Her carrying capacity is for 400 passengers. She has 3 MTU 16V4000 engines (6,960 kW) as well as 2 Kamewa 63 SII waterjets. Her maximum speed is 35 knots.

The Hunger Strike Did Help Golden Star Ferries

Golden Star Ferries have finally gained approval for the summer service to Crete, after the owner of the ferry company has been on hunger strike end of February. He was waiting outside Shipping Minister Panayiotis Kouroublis’s office for a license to serve a route linking the company’s homeport Rafina with Crete.

The service will be operated by the SUPERFERRY and SUPERFERRY II, from 2 May to 31 October.

Every morning a ship leaves from Rafina, and another from Iraklion. The ships stop in Andros, Tinos, Mykonos, Paros, Ios and Santorini. Arrival is in the late evening.
