Brittany Ferries, Adrena and Bureau Veritas Solutions M&O report fuel savings of up to 6% by combining voyage optimisation with digital twins. Nine ships in the fleet now use the system.
The savings comprise:
- Around 4% from AdrenaShip, which optimises routes and speed profiles using weather and current data.
- A further 2 percentage points from digital twins, which refine routing recommendations and suggest more efficient engine configurations.
The findings draw on thousands of crossings, supported by almost two years of onboard monitoring of GALICIA. The partners say the savings were achieved while maintaining timetables and service standards.
