Corsica Linea’s PAGLIA ORBA suffered some hull damage whilst entering the port of Bastia in very bad weather conditions, on Monday 25/1. The vessel hit an underwater ridge.

The company has chartered KALLISTE (photo) from La Méridionale.

Godby Shipping announced that it agreed to acquire roro vessel BALTIC BRIGHT (built 1996 and capacity of 1,068 lane metres)

Incat’s Hull 094 BUCCOO REEF

The 100-metre BUCCOO REEF has been built for the seabridge between Port of Spain Trinidad and Scarborough, Tobago.

After having been delivered she sailed away from Hobart. However, she made a U-turn

and returned to Tasmania after alarms were triggered on the vessel, some 398 nautical miles from Hobart.

Former Dutch Ferry Arrived on Recycling Beach

As expected, veteran ferry and former PRINSES BEATRIX (1978), DUC DE NORMANDIE (Brittany Ferries), WISTERIA (Transeuropa Ferries), VRONSKIY (Trasmediterranea) has been beached in Aliaga, Turkey. She arrived on 18 January 2021 as DAMLA.

Connecting Ireland after Brexit

Ireland has ramped up direct shipping routes to mainland Europe since the end of the Brexit transition period. This has resulted in new routes and the addition of tonnage capacity.

Rather than giving the information in bits and pieces we want to keep an overall view on the market. That’s why we start with this weekly feature: a logbook of what’s happening.

This is a growing project. We start with the different events on the seabridge between the Republic of Ireland and the Continent. As from next week we’re also going to keep track of the landbridge connections.

Hellenic Coastal Shipping Struggling with its Role despite its Considerable Contribution

The degradation of the role and the contribution of the coastal shipping to the country’s development – by the state – was highlighted by the Hellenic Passenger Shipping Business Association (SEEN), which also submitted specific proposals.

Cartagena Tests a Direct RoRo Service with the South of France

Last Saturday saw the first departure of CORSICA MARINA SECONDA from Cartagena to Toulon, loaded with trucks with fruit and vegetables.

The ferry has been chartered from Corsica Ferries by a French company.

The route over land is about 1,200km. With this “motorways of the sea” drivers arrive in Toulon with their tachygraph on zero.

Frequency: weekly

Departure: Saturday 10pm

Journey: 25-28 hours

Initiative led by port authority of Cartagena, the regional government and Agencia Marítima Blázquez

Destination Gotland Gets New CEO

Marcus Risberg (left picture), Managing Director for Swedish subsidiary Tallink Silja AB leaves Tallink Grupp to take up a new position as CEO of Destination Gotland.

Mr Risberg will replace Christer Bruzelius, who retires after 9 successful years.

Tallink Grupp announced that Mr Ats Joorits (right picture) will take up the position from 15 March 2021.
