Ferry Passengers Increasing (+4%) And Ro-Ro Decreasing (-1%) In The Port Of Ancona
In 2018, 1,151,266 passengers were handled in the port of Ancona, 6% more compared with the year before, and 1,084,235 of those were transported by ferries (+4%).

The ferry companies active in the port of Ancona are Minoan Lines, Superfast Ferries and Anek Lines (to and from Greece), Grandi Navi Veloci and Adria Ferries (to and from Albania) and Jadrolinija and Snav (to and from Croatia).
As for the ro-ro traffic, 147,650 trucks and trailers were handled in the port in 2018, which means a 1% decrease compared with the previous year.
Slobodna Dalmacija writes that Damen Shipyards and Thecla Bodewes (TB) will probably be entrusted with the delivery of three new and one secondhand 9-month-old high-speed craft. The purchase still has to be approved.
The Management Board of Croatian ferry company Jadrolinija has selected David Sopta as new CEO, after a three and a half months tender, to which twenty candidates reacted. David Sopta will replace Alan Klanac.
The decision to install a new Board at the state-owned ferry operator Jadrolinija still hasn’t been taken. CEO Alan Klanac’s four-year mandate expired already in May but has been extended.
Croatian sources report that up to twenty candidates were in the running to replace Mr Klanac.
Jadrolinija is in an important phase of its history, with several routes being tendered out to other operators, and with the need to renew tonnage.
