Corsica Linea took delivery of A GALEOTTA

Corsica Linea took delivery of the new LNG-powered RoPax named A GALEOTTA, built by Cantiere Navale Visentini shipyard in Porto Viro.

The vessel will have the capacity to accommodate 650 passengers and 2,560 lane meters of freight. Also, the ship will be able to carry 150 cars on a separate deck.

Corsica Linea’s ferries provide year-round services from Marseille, the main trading port in France to the Mediterranean island of Corsica. The vessel is to be deployed on the route linking Marseille and Ajaccio / Bastia.

Dutch firm Titan will bunker Corsica Linea’s first LNG-powered RoPax in Marseille, as part of a deal revealed in January this year. Titan will first provide truck-to-ship operations until its 4,500 m3 LNG bunkering vessel KRIOS arrives.

Short-term charter agreement extension

AS Tallink Grupp and Corporate Travel Management (North) Ltd on behalf of The Scottish Government have agreed an extension to the short-term time-charter agreement for ropax VICTORIA I.

The vessel is providing temporary accommodation in Scotland.

The charter has been extended for five months from 14 January 2023.

AS Tallink Grupp passenger, cargo unit and passenger vehicles numbers for October 2022 were the following:

FINLAND – SWEDEN

October results reflect operations of Turku-Kapellskär and Helsinki-Stockholm routes. The cruise ferry GALAXY stopped operating on the Turku-Stockholm route in September 2022 due to a charter contract.

ESTONIA – FINLAND

October results reflect operations of shuttle services.

ESTONIA – SWEDEN

October results reflect operations of Tallinn-Stockholm and Paldiski-Kapellskär routes. The cargo ship SAILOR underwent maintenance works until October 28, 2022.

Tallink Grupp: Extension of vessel charter agreement

A subsidiary of AS Tallink Grupp, Baltic SF IX Limited and Marine Atlantic Inc, have concluded to extend the current charter agreement of ATLANTIC VISION (ex. SUPERFAST IX) for 18 months, until May 2024, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional 12 months.

The vessel has been on the long-term bareboat charter since November 14, 2008.

Short-term charter agreement

AS Tallink Grupp and Corporate Travel Management (North) Ltd on behalf of The Scottish Government have signed a short-term time-charter agreement for the vessel Victoria I. The vessel will be used to provide temporary accommodation in Scotland.

The vessel will be chartered from 8 July 2022 for six months with an option to extend the charter for another three months.

Tallink Grupp’s Latest Statistics Reveal Impact of Pandemic

Tallink’s Q4 and December statistics reveal the total impact of COVID-19 on the company’s annual passenger, vehicle and cargo figures.

  • -61.8% passengers in 2020
  • -82.5% Latvia-Sweden
  • -81.9% Estonia-Sweden
  • -66.1% Finland-Sweden
  • -52.3% Estonia-Finland
  • -36.7% passenger vehicles in 2020

Despite the many challenges during the year, the company transported a total of 359,811 units of cargo during 2020, which is only 5.2% less than during the full year 2019.

Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp, said commenting on the results, “…. the company has weathered this storm as well as possible… and we are ready to carry on our battle through the storms and are determined to begin the road to recovery in 2021”
