Grimaldi Group has announced the deployment of ECO ADRIATICA on its Italy–Türkiye services, bringing the number of GG5G hybrid RoRo vessels on the corridor to four. The fleet expansion was highlighted in a press release announcing the group’s participation in the Logitrans fair in Istanbul on 11–13 November.
ECO ADRIATICA joins sister vessels ECO SALERNO, ECO MEDITERRANEA and ECO MALTA on the Trieste–Bari–Patras–Ambarli–Gemlik services. Each vessel can carry up to 7,800 lane metres of rolling freight, equivalent to more than 520 trailers. According to Grimaldi, their combined deployment brings service capacity to more than 4,000 rolling units per week and 200,000 per year.
The group entered the Turkish shortsea market in September 2024 and has since expanded its connections between Italy, Greece and Türkiye through additional port calls and increased cargo capacity.
Grimaldi says the GG5G vessels halve CO₂ emissions per transported unit compared with the previous generation of RoRo ships. Battery power enables zero CO₂ emissions during port stays.
The group will present its Mediterranean network at Logitrans in Hall 3, Stand 209.
