GALAXY Left Greece for Faroe Islands Charter

On 4 August 2025, the A-Ships Management ferry GALAXY left Perama for the Faroe Islands. She has been chartered to Strandfaraskip Landsins for a 10-week period starting on 30 August 2025. Arrival is expected on 17 August.

The ship will temporarily replace SMYRIL on the Tórshavn–Tvøroyri route. GALAXY was also chartered by the same company in 2017 for a shorter period.

Built in Poland in 1979, she can carry 900 passengers (limited to 350 during the charter) and 520 lane metres. Service speed is 19 knots.

GALAXY Chartered to the Faroe Islands

It is reported that the A-Ships Management ferry GALAXY has been chartered to the Faroese Strandfaraskip Landsins for a 10-week period starting from 8 September 2025. The ship will replace SMYRIL on the Tórshavn–Tvøroyri route.

GALAXY was previously chartered by the same company in 2017, though for a shorter period. She was built in Poland in 1979. Her carrying capacity is 900 passengers (though she will operate with a maximum of 350 during the charter) and 520 lane metres. Her service speed is 19 knots.

GALAXY chartered by Caronte & Tourist until next summer

Messina-based Caronte&Tourist group charters ro-pax GALAXY for four months.

She will soon be deployed by subsidiary Siremar.

This 1979-built ferry is owned by A-Ships Management.

Ferrando & Massone of Genoa were the shipbrokers.

GALAXY is expected to enter service from February on the maritime link with Sicily and will replace some of the company’s ships soon to be stopped for maintenance works.
