Bornholmlinjen Passes the Two Million Pax Mark

For the first time Bornholm Line’s ferries had more than two million travellers to and from the Danish Island: 2,005,564 passengers took the return trip on one of the three routes to Bornholm in 2024.

Throughout 2025, EXPRESS 5 will sail side by side with EXPRESS 1. The latter will be rebuilt to be more identical to EXPRESS 5 (with a larger shop).

Bornholmlinjen, part of Molslinjen, connects the Danish Island of Bornholm with Ystad (Sw), Köge (Dk) and Sassnitz (Ge).

2022 was a record year for Bornholmlinjen

Never have there been more passengers, cars, and trucks on the three routes to the Danish island of Bornholm (from Ystad, Køge, and Sassnitz).

+4.8% passengers (1,948,140)

+7.5% cars (573126)

+2.1% cargo units (47443)

In 2023 the ferry capacity to Bornholm will be significantly increased with the arrival of EXPRESS 5.

Last Month Bornholmlinjen Carried More Passengers But Less Freight On Fast Ferry Route

With lorries as the only exception, the Bornholmlinjen in all areas has increased traffic in October compared to Danske Ferger in October 2017

Some criticism the new ferry operator was heard on the island of Bornholm. The main complaint was about cancellations of crossings and the information.

Although not intended as a response to the criticism, Bornholmslinjen said that the company transported more to and from the island than its predecessor in the same month of last year.

High-speed ferry service Rønne – Ystad (EXPRESS 1)

+16.5% departures with 240 departures. 254 were planned but 14 had to be cancelled because of the weather conditions.

+11.4% passenger cars

+10.8% passengers

-35.1% trucks

Remark: there was an important increase of freight on the conventional route between Rønne and Køge, on ro-pax HAMMERSHUS.
