When looking at the 2021 results, two main trends are visible:

BOTNIA ENABLER – the world’s largest ice-rated ConRo vessel with multi-fuel (*) operation – has reached Europe and will enter regular service within a few days.
The first of two Ferry Shipping Summit award-winning ConRo vessels called at Zeebrugge on June 30th.
“Finally being able to welcome her to Europe is a big deal,” says Ragnar Johansson, Managing Director at Wallenius SOL.
On 7 July 2022, BOTNIA ENABLER will enter scheduled traffic on her regular Zeebrugge-Antwerp-Kookola-Oulu-Kemi-Skellefteå-Travemünde route.
“Botnia Enabler has increased our container capacity by 300%, and almost 100% for RoRo cargo, compared to the ship she is replacing. And later, when we add BALTIC ENABLER, the route will have a capacity of 962 TEU,” says Ragnar Johansson.
The vessels have been designed by Knud E. Hansen.

Ports of Stockholm is investing in the RoRo segment and is building a large-sized new linkspan for rolling goods in Stockholm Norvik Port. It will give customers greater flexibility and a significantly improved loading and unloading capacity. Steel parts for the 146-metre long and 10-metre wide linkspan were transported by sea from Rauma in Finland. The linkspan is planned to be operational in July 2022.

Agreement has been reached by Rosslare Europort to secure 18 acres of additional lands next to the port.
The site, which is zoned for commercial use is adjacent to the new proposed freight port entrance and will have a direct connection to both the port and the new port access road being constructed by Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Wexford County Council.
The new site will add significant capacity to future RoRo, ConRo freight operations, ORE and other bulk storage activity at Rosslare and will further position Rosslare Europort to attract shipping services from other ports that are and will in the future experience further congestion and capacity constraints.
Seajets announced that from July 12 they will launch a new ferry connection from Thessaloniki to Lemnos (3 hours and 55 minutes) and Mytilene (6 hours and 45 minutes).
The ship that will serve the new line will be the HSC CHAMPION JET 1, which will sail every Tuesday morning (07.00) for the above ports.
The new line will be added to the other one that Seajets serve with great success, from Thessaloniki to Sporades islands (Skiathos-Skopelos-Alonissos) and Mandoudi (Evia).
Seajets, currently operate 21 vessels, serve 50 ports and more than 380 ferry connections to the Aegean Sea.
According to the latest information, the new ferry connection between Thessaloniki and Izmir will be launched fall 2022.
So far, it was decided to have one intermediate call to the port of Mytilene. (route Thessaloniki – Mytilene – Izmir).
The aim is to carry trucks cheaply from Izmir either to Thessaloniki and then through the Egnatia motorway to Igoumenitsa port and Italy, or to unload them in Mytilene and transship them to Piraeus for Southern Greece and Crete.
The port of Mytilene will enhance tourism for both countries.
The ship that will be introduced is Levante Ferries’ RoPax SMYRNA DI LEVANTE which is being converted into a ferry that looks like new.
One year ago, Ferry Shipping News announced the arrival of Blue Channel Line.
The idea of the Calais-based startup was to start a door-to-door roro/logistics service between Calais and Tilbury.
One year later, the company threw in the towel, because of lack of suitable tonnage.
