E-flexer COTE D’OPALE arrived in Calais on Saturday morning (10 July), after its long delivery journey from China.
She was greeted by the other DFDS ships, who were flagged overall.
Later during the day she tried the different berths in Calais’ old and new port.
On Monday she went to Dover, before heading to Dunkerque for a planned drydock session.
Wärtsilä will provide the main and auxiliary engines, as well as the fuel storage and supply system, for a new Italian ferry designed to operate on LNG.
The vessel is under construction at the Sefine shipyard in Turkey and has been ordered by Caronte & Tourist Isole Minori, based in Milazzo, Italy. The order with Wärtsilä was placed in the first quarter of 2021.

Stena Rederi AB and Ventspils Port Companies have signed a Letter of Intent regarding the management of their port and logistics activities in Latvia. The intention is to explore the potential of Stena managing the terminals and railway companies on behalf of Ventspils Port Companies.
The NZK series are a serie of five fully electric ferries that will be operating in the North Sea Canal area (Amsterdam).
The ferries are intended to operate fully-electric and are charged by means of a 1.600 kW shore charging facility. Charging the batteries takes approximately 3 minutes and is automatically done while boarding and unboarding the passengers and vehicles.
