On June 14, 2019 – and after many adventures – the latest acquisition of Golden Star Ferries, HSC SUPER EXPRESS (5.903gt/1998), will be introduced on the Rafina-Syros-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos-Koufonissi-Katapola (Amorgos) run. The ship’s schedule has already been posted on the company’s official site. She will depart daily from Rafina port at 16.30, while her return from Amorgos will be at 07.15. The ship flies the Cypriot flag.
The Visentini shipyard is building a new 203m long / 3,300 lane metre ro-pax, for delivery in spring 2020.
This large ferry will be chartered by Trasmediterranea.
This Is What the Central Port in Gdansk Is Going to Look Like
The Port of Gdansk Authority has been working on the concept of development of the Central Port for nearly a year. Work on the execution of the project is set to begin this year.
Port of Rostock started the construction of two new ro-ro ramps, at the Querkai in Überseehafen.
In order to be able to handle ferries with a length of up to 250m, the quay between berths 41 and 51 will be equipped with two ro-ro ramps.
Prior to this, works started on Berth n° 50 in January 2019.

Seatruck Now Have Just Short Of 20% Of the Total Irish Sea Ro-Ro Market
Clipper Group a/s improved its operating profit (EBIT) in 2018. It’s ferry division did a very good job.
Seatruck Ferries recorded a volume growth of 7.5% in a market where total volumes grew by 2.7%. Seatruck Ferries now holds 19.9% of the total ro-ro market on the Irish Sea, where the company operates 3 routes between the UK and Ireland with close to 80 weekly sailings.
In 2018, Seatruck Ferries acquired 4 ro-ro vessels for a total consideration of USD 124 million. The company now owns all its 7 ro-ro vessels operating on the Irish Sea plus one additional ro-ro vessel, which is chartered out externally.

The number of passenger vehicles transported decreased on all the group’s routes in May 2019 compared to the same period last year.

Moby And Tirrenia Tickets Can Be Purchased With Telepass Pay
As from Monday 3 June, it will be possible to buy tickets for the routes operated by the companies Moby, Tirrenia and Toremar through the Telepass App, in the new “Ships and Ferries” section.
The cost of the trip will be charged on the Telepass Pay account.
The start of the passenger service is the first step in a technological journey that will also be extended to the freight sector.
Rauma Marine Constructions has signed an agreement with their partner network for the delivery of a power system for the new Wasaline ferry.
The vessel will employ a hybrid power generation system as well as an electric propulsion system rarely used in ro-pax ferries.
Batteries are dimensioned for the vessel’s operation in port without using main engines. The energy storage system is charged from shore power, which is also used for the vessel’s other power needs during the stay at the harbour.
The power for the propulsors is generated by an integrated system solution, which can utilise the dual-fuel engines or the energy storage system chargeable from shore power. The main source of fuel is LNG (or biogas).
The hybrid power solution will be created together with RMC’s technology partner WE Tech Solutions Oy. The main switchboards will be provided by VEO, the propulsion drive system with a novel frequency converter solution will be manufactured by Danfoss/Vacon, the energy storage system with Li-Ion battery packages will be provided by Leclanché, and WEG will manufacture the generators.
The new ferry is scheduled for delivery in April 2021 and it will operate daily between Vaasa and Umeå.
