Alaska’s next chapter in coastal connectivity is moving forward. The Tustumena Replacement Vessel (TRV) is purpose-designed for the Gulf of Alaska, combining modern safety systems, higher capacity, and improved passenger comfort.
The build contract to replace TUSTUMENA (1964) is out to bid. The state’s project notice calls for the new mainliner ferry to be completed by the beginning of 2029 with an estimated price tag of more than USD $300 million.
