Inaugural Rail Freight Shipment from Poland to Ystad

On March 5, 2025, the good cooperation between Unity Line, Swinoujscie Ferry Terminal, Port of Ystad together with DB Cargo and VÄTE resulted in the transhipping of steel rail from ArcelorMittal to Sweden.

The ferry POLONIA arrived on time in Ystad, Wednesday evening 5 March, with 26 waggons and approx. 800 tons of steel.

This operation marked the first transshipment of such an unusual rail transport between Świnoujście and Ystad, demonstrating new possibilities for freight logistics between Poland and Sweden.

Bornholmslinjen sets a record in H1

2023 has started well for the Bornholmslinjen route between Rønne and Ystad. Never before have there been so many people on the ferries as in the first six months of this year.

756,991 passengers have travelled with the ferries in the first six months (+4.5%)

The progress on Ystad – Bornholm was expected, as this season offers sailing with both the world’s largest fast ferry, EXPRESS 5, and with EXPRESS 1 – and the traffic has set several records during the first half of the year and especially during the spring mini-holidays.

Last year in 2022, a total of 1,721,949 travellers travelled back and forth between Rønne and Ystad.

Busy June For Bornholmslinjen

The cheap tickets that Bornholm Line has introduced on the route to Bornholm shows in the June statistics.

The route between Rønne and Ystad saw a 17% increase of passengers compared to June 2018.

The number of passenger cars has increased by almost 17% too.

The June figures also show that the route between Rønne and Køge enjoys an increasing popularity with ordinary travelers. The new HAMMERSHUS sailed with almost 26% more passengers and 40% more cars. More tourists mean more food etc. Freight went up 13%.
