Ventouris Ferries’ RoPax BAJA STAR arrived in Greece

On February 4, 2024, the new acquisition of the Greek based Ventouris Ferries RoPax BAJA STAR arrived in Greece. The ship left Mexico on December 26, 2023.

She was built in Japan (1992) for Marine Express Co (Tokyo). She was sold to Mexican Baja Ferries in 2016 and served the Pichilinque – Mazatlan line. The GT 25,000 ship will be delivered in Perama to her new owners and then undergo a small refit before entering service on the Greece-Italy or Albania – Italy lines.

Her carrying capacity is for 705 passengers (660 beds) and 1,400 lane meters.

Rigel II Enters Service on July 6

Ventouris Ferries’ RIGEL II will soon return into service, on the Bari-Durres line. The ship was at the port of Aigio and out of service since September 2020.

According to the information the ship departed for Albania on June 29 and she will be introduced on the above line on July 6, 2021 replacing her fleet mate RIGEL VII.

Ventouris Ferries’ RIGEL VII Is Under Conversion At Perama

Ventouris Ferries’ ropax RIGEL VII is being rebuilt at the Diamantis Shipyard in Kynousoura, since September 13. The Japanese build vessel will undergo a serious facelift before its introduction on the Italy – Albania route next summer season.

The ship was purchased from Japan (Shikoku Kaihatsu Ferry) in December 2018 and arrived in the port of Aigion (Greece) on March 3, 2019.

She was built at Imabari in 1994. She is 9.917gt (3.155 dwt), 164m long, 25,6m wide and 5,5m draught. Her carrying capacity is for 730 passengers (312 beds), 122 trucks and 278 cars (1,251 lane meters), but that is going to change. She has two Pielstick main engines (27,000 b.h.p.) and her service speed is 22 knots.
