Shore Power Project for Port of Ancona Advances

ShoreLink has been selected to supply shore power cable management systems for the Port of Ancona, one of the Adriatic’s leading ferry gateways, handling more than one million ferry and cruise passengers annually.

The project includes the delivery of one RoRoLink Mobile unit, five RoRoLink Fixed installations and five connection cabinets. The systems will provide shore power to RoRo and RoPax vessels, enabling them to switch off their engines while alongside and thereby reducing emissions and noise in the port area.

According to ShoreLink, the project will help support the Port of Ancona’s sustainability ambitions while accommodating future traffic growth. The company thanked the Central Adriatic Ports Authority and Consorzio Stabile F2B Società Consortile A.R.L. for their cooperation and confidence in the project.

Ferry Traffic Soon to Change Quays in Port of Ancona

The port authority of Ancona announced that its managing committee approved some changes through which the quays number 19, 20 and 21 of the south pier will be dedicated to ro-ro and ro-pax traffic. In the past this quay, which is 420 metres long and with a 21,400m2 yard, hosted grain silos and bulk carriers.

In the future, this part of the port of Ancona will also be dedicated to extra-Schengen links operated with mid-size ferries.

All the ro-pax linkspans will therefore be moved to the new area during the year, while the current terminal will go on receiving ferries during the peaks in the summer season.

The port of Ancona is regularly called by Minoan, Adria Ferries, Snav, Jadrolinija, Anek Lines and Superfast Ferries.
