Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft is in a difficult financial situation. One of the reasons is the late delivery of W.B. YEATS, the cruise ferry from Irish Ferries. The issue is certainly not the lack of orders. The yard has several ferries and ro-ro’s on order.
A new state guarantee is required and talks with the respective ministers are on their way. The yard belongs to the Norwegian Siem Group, and has been struggling in spite of the orderbook. A plan to save the yard is on the table of all the stakeholders, such as the state of Schleswig-Holstein, customers and suppliers as well as the unions and IG Metall.
