Björn Boström Joins the Ferry Shipping Summit Team

It was already announced during the Ferry Shipping Summit in Malmö. Now the good news becomes reality: Björn Boström joins the Ferry Shipping Summit team as Business Development Manager.

After 17 years as CEO of the Port of Ystad, Björn decided it was time to step down and to use his expertise in new roles, as a consultant, interim manager, or board member.

Björn has more than 40 years of experience in ferry shipping, with companies such as Saga Line, DFDS, Lion Ferry and others.

His broad experience in ferry and port operations, as well as intergovernmental organisations, will strengthen our team of professionals.

Björn Boström Resigns as Managing Director of Port of Ystad

Port of Ystad’s Managing Director, Björn Boström, has announced his resignation after 17 years in the role. He will remain in office at least until the new year, with his final day to be confirmed later. “My intention is to start my own business as the beginning of my way to retirement,” said Mr Boström.

Since joining the port in 2008, Boström has successfully led both operations and development. The board expressed regret at his decision but fully respects it, and will now focus on finding a successor to continue the port’s positive development.

Björn Boström has always been very supportive of Ferry Shipping News and the Summit, and we would like to thank him for that.

Björn Boström Re-Elected Chairman For The BPO Comprehensive Ports Working Group

During the meeting on September 4 th, Björn Boström, CEO for Port of Ystad, was re-elected for yet another term as Chairman of the Baltic Ports Organization’s (BPO) Comprehensive Ports Working Group.

BPO is a regional ports organization established in 1991, with the aim to facilitate cooperation among ports and to monitor and improve the possibilities for shipping in the Baltic Sea region. The organisation currently comprises of 47 members, representing the most significant ports and stakeholders in the Baltic Sea region, with the mission to strengthen the global competitiveness of the region’s port industry.
