- At a keel laying ceremony held on May 31, Red Funnel, announced that its new £10m freight ship will be called RED KESTREL. The keel-laying took place at Cammell Laird’s, Birkenhead. The British shipyard is scheduled to deliver the vessel in spring 2019.
- Seajets is to start a service between Thessaloniki and Crete, via Skiathos, Andros, Siros, Tinos, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and Santorini. The ferry will be the 43-year-old ro-pax AQUA BLUE (ex IERAPETRA L). (source: Elliniki Aktoploia)
- Astilleros Gondán delivered the third of four “Eco Fast Ferries” to Balearia.
- Moby Lines started the seasonal service between Piombino and Olbia (Sardinia). MOBY WONDER and MOBY AKI are offering two sailings a day until mid September. Crossing takes five hours.
