Double Ro-Ro Charter For Grandi Navi Veloci For The Genoa – Palermo Link

Not one, but two ro-ro ships are chartered by Grandi Navi Veloci for the Genoa – Palermo motorway of the seas, in order to free car capacity on the company’s ro-pax fleet.

Just a few days after the PAULINE RUSS arrived in Italy to start a three-month charter for Grandi Navi Veloci, this week also the sister ship ELISABETH RUSS reached the port of Genoa where it started to operate a regular freight link with Palermo.

Both vessels have been chartered for the summer season at a daily rate of some EUR 6,000 each.

Eckerö Group Shuts Down Birka Cruises

Victim of the pandemic, Eckerö Group has decided to close its subsidiary Birka Cruises Ab.

The Group sees no opportunity to start a profitable traffic again, according to CEO Björn Blomqvist in local media.

The company has operated on the Mariehamn-Stockholm line for 49 years.

Naviera Armas Trasmediterranea Renames RoRo

The Spanish company renamed JOSÉ MARIA ENTRECANALES. The 3,500 lane meter roro vessel is now VILLA DE TAZACORTE, after the town on the island of La Palma.

With her capacity and sufficient connections for refrigerated trailers she is transporting a lot of bananas from the Canary Islands to Cadiz.

Seajets’ CHAMPION JET 2 Entered Service On July 4

On the afternoon of July 4, SeaJets’ HSC CHAMPION JET 2 was introduced on the Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos line. She is the second vessel of this type to be activated within the Hellenic Coastal Shipping for the summer season 2020 and according to her operator, she is expected to serve the line until July 20, 2020.

Ventouris Ferries’ RIGEL II Is Back On The Italy-Albania Route

On July 4, Ventouris Ferries’ RIGEL II left Greece for the port of Durres (Albania).

She arrived at Perama in mid-March in order to undergo scheduled repairs and dry-docking (15.06-18.06.2020). According to the company’s booking system, she is expected to be introduced on the Bari-Durres line, on July 8, 2020.
